On 6,7 and 8 June a two and a half day workshop is taking place in Skopje at the Faculty of Architecture, UKIM and hosted by the City of Skopje. The proposed topic of the workshop is “Testing Grounds – Citizens centred and Data driven urban development”.
The main goal of the workshop is to demonstrate the potential of using user or citizen centred and data driven approach to urban development and urban design of complex developments on the case of the urban developments in Skopje. The plan of the two day workshop is structured on the idea to have a formative lecture in the morning session and the working session in working groups in the afternoon.
The lecture sessions at the workshop will be “Integrated Urban Design” presented by Prof. Gunnar Hartman and Dr. Harun Badagshi, “Torino Atlas” by Marta Bariolo and Maurizia Pignatelli from Urban Center Metropolitano and Politecnico di Torino, and “Skopje is heating” by UNDP Macedonia. The topics of the lectures will provide a frame for “user focused scenario development”” in the first day working session and “data driven urban development” for the second day working session. The third day morning is dedicated for the final conclusions of results and the EUCANET Steering Committee meeting.
The main objectives of the workshop is to demonstrate the novel approach (user centred) to urban development in Skopje (including development of the new Clinical centre at the city periphery) and the benefit of use of digital tools and “data driven research” for the same purpose, so the final result could be very generic and only promotional rather than the final result.
The participants of the workshop in Skopje will be students from respective partner cities, EUCANET experts, professors and researchers focused on citizen centred and data driven urban development processes, local institutional and civic stakeholders, decision makers and others.
